SAIL ALONG WITH THE EENDRACHT
As a non-profit organization the foundation 'Het Zeilend Zeeschip' exploits the Eendracht. The commercial activities of the ship are only to support it's aim, to teach the youth what it's like to work together while sailing. Queen Beatrix herself baptized the Eendracht and prince Maurits is patron of Hollands largest three-masted schooner.Year after year the foundation has a financial struggle to keep the Eendracht afloat. Logically, since it is a non-profit organization. Whenever some money is left over, this will immediately be invested on the youngsters. For the foundation it is important to have a balanced checkbook each year, this way the ship can keep on sailing! However, this is an ongoing struggle, especially since the needed earnings rely more and more on sponsors and bookings of trips. In economic bad times, the foundation notices that companies have to cut down on sponsoring, good causes and business events.
