The Tall Ships Races 2011 - Blogs, Social Media and Competitions!

Ship’s Blog
Following on from its success last year we will once again have the ship’s blog on our website where vessels can provide short updates to the public, as and when this may be possible throughout the races. We hope that you will be able to use this facility to keep people posted on your ship’s activities both while racing and when in port.

If you have not already done so then you will need to register on the website in order to be able to post comments and you can do this by following this link http://www.sailtraininginternational.org/profile/register. We would suggest that you do this now rather than waiting until you are at sea.

Once you have registered you will be able to post your comments on the blog page: http://www.sailtraininginternational.org/events/2011-onwards/2011-race/ships-blog

If you are unable to post your messages directly whilst out at sea, then you can send the text, along with your username and password to chloe.lebreton@sailtraininginternational.org and they will be posted for you. Please do not hesitate in doing this as we want to hear from as many of you as possible!

Facebook and Twitter
We will be ‘tweeting’ regular updates during the race so please follow us on Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/TallShipsRaces) and mention us in your own tweets using @tallshipsraces and hashtags so that we can reach as many people as possible with updates about the Races!

If you are not already our friend on facebook, please send us a friend request: ‘Sail TrainingInternational’ and look for video content and photo updates.

Competitions
This year in addition to our annual photographic competition for trainees we are running a second competition for the most viewed film of the races on youtube. I have attached a poster containing details of the competition and would appreciate it if you could post the details on your websites and if possible email them on to your trainees. Each vessel will be provided with a hard copy of the poster in the Captain’s envelope given out in port and further posters will be displayed in the crew centres.

A poster of the Photo and Film Competition can be found here.
